A Slow Weekend in Hobart's Book Village
June 19, 2026 · Book Village Inn

There’s a particular kind of weekend that Hobart does better than almost anywhere: the slow one. No itinerary, no rushing — just books, a good pour, and the West Branch Delaware murmuring at the edge of town.
Friday — arrive and exhale
Roll in late afternoon, drop your bags in your room, and wander down to the bar as the kitchen fires up. It’s Friday, so the bar is open and there’s a good chance of live music on Saturday to look forward to. Order something Argentine, find a seat by the hearth, and let the week fall away.
Saturday — books, then the bar
Spend the morning the only way you should in a book village: wandering. Start with our own Hidden Bookshop in the barn, then follow Main Street through the rest of Hobart’s independent shops. Pace yourself — half the pleasure is in the lingering.
By evening, the bar is humming and there’s music on. Stay a while.
Sunday — the long way home
Before you go, take the Catskill Scenic Trail or sit by the river with one of yesterday’s finds. Hobart is about three hours from the city — close enough for a weekend, far enough to feel like somewhere else entirely.
When you’re ready to do it again, the rooms are right here.
