About the Inn
A Storybook Stay in the Heart of Hobart
The building that's now home to Book Village Inn was erected in the1830s — known to locals as the MacArthur House. As local historians tell it, it began as a coaching inn, later became a private residence, and in time an inn and bar once again.
After a quiet spell, the old house has been lovingly reopened as Book Village Inn & Bar — where timeless elegance meets modern comfort, in a setting that celebrates history, literature, and the great outdoors.
Five uniquely styled bedrooms — each named for a beloved author — make it ideal for intimate getaways and larger gatherings alike; you can even book the entire inn for your event. Every room blends historic charm with literary inspiration and modern comforts.
